FM 200 acts mainly by inhibiting certain chemical combustion reactions without significantly lowering the oxygen content of the air. Safe for personnel up to an operating concentration of 10.50%, it does not cause any damage to electrical or electronic installations and has no incompatibility with common metals, plastics and magnetic media.
In automatic extinction, it is used for the protection of closed volume and on class B or C fires. It can be used on class A surface fires not giving rise to deep fires (cable and electrical wiring for example).
It is not recommended for use on class A deep fires and in the equipment of premises that do not have sufficient water tightness.
